Abstract

|
|
A case of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome with large gastric ulceration, hypersecretion and hyperacidity of gastric secretion and hyperplasia of islet-cell of pancreas was presented and literature was briefly reviewed.
The patient was 58 years old male, who entered the hospital with chief complaints of epigastric pain and fullness of about 6 years duration. Upper gastrointestinal series were taken elsewhere and a large, irregular filling defect was demonstrated in stomach.
Gastric juice analysis revealed hypersecretion and hyperacidity and resected gastric specimen showed hypertrophic gastric mucosa with beging ulceration.
There was no evidence of malignancy. The surface of pancreas showed numerous, small nodulaity and microscopic examination demonstreated hyperplasia of islet cells.
